Dr. Jerry Lai
Dr. Jerry Lai is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained oculoplastic surgeon. He graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He completed his medical degree at Northwestern University, as well, through the highly selective Honors Program in Medical Education. After an internship at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Dr. Lai completed his residency in ophthalmology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Having developed a passion for oculoplastic surgery, he applied to and was accepted into one of only twenty (nationwide), highly competitive oculoplastic fellowships sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Lai performed thousands of procedures during this 2 year fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin under the preceptorship of Gerald Harris, the then editor of the prestigious Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (OPRS) journal. He served as an instructor in the medical school, gave numerous lectures to ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, oral surgeons, and plastic surgeons, and served as a reviewer for the OPRS journal during his time in Wisconsin. Dr. Lai was also the speaker for a half-day oculoplastic lecture series at the Department of Ophthalmology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and has been published in several ophthalmic journals and books.
