Meet Your Amazing Eye Care Team

Ameet Goyal, MD

It is often said that Dr. Goyal is “a doctor’s doctor.” Other physicians often call on him for his expertise, a true validation of his outstanding credentials and skill. Artful and attentive, he takes time to understand your needs and makes sure you’re completely informed about all of your options, both surgical and nonsurgical. His primary goal is to give you the most precise care and finest results possible, and he treats you as if you were a member of his own family. He even gives his phone number to each patient's family members in case they have questions about care and treatment.

Dr. Goyal is a board-certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon by the American Board of Ophthalmology. That means he is trained in the complexities of treating all conditions of the eye as well as the delicate facial anatomy that surrounds the eye. He also makes recommendations about your overall health, not just your eyes.

Dr. Goyal earned a BS from Vanderbilt University, where he graduated summa cum laude in psychology. Medical school followed at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, where he was AIMS representative and earned his MD. It was during his clinical rotations that Dr. Goyal discovered how much he enjoyed ophthalmology. He saw how important it was to recognize and treat systemic diseases and disorders – particularly since so many conditions manifest in the eyes.

He did a rotating internship at West Virginia University and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville, where he received a Pride in Caring Award. He also completed advanced fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Wills Eye Hospital, among the top three programs in the United States.

Dr. Goyal is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. ASOPRS fellows must complete stringent membership requirements that include original research, a thesis, oral and written exams and successful completion of academic/clinical requirements in one of 26 nationwide programs.

He is a clinical professor at New York Medical College in Valhalla and also teaches residents in the family medicine program at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Tarrytown, NY. He is a member of the Medical Society State of New York, Fairfield County Medical Society and New York State Ophthalmology Society. He is also a member of American Academy of Ophthalmology and a former board member of New York State Ophthalmology Society.

Dr. Goyal has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Ophthalmology in 2015 and 2016 and’s “Most Compassionate Doctor” in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. He received the Bausch & Lomb Leadership Award in 2013 in San Francisco, CA; the Pride in Caring Award twice from the hospital administrator in Louisville, KY; the Honorable Kentucky Colonel Award by Governor Brereton Jones; and commendations for 20 years of service at Phelps Memorial Hospital, 20 years of service at Westchester Medical Center and 15 years of service at Greenwich Hospital.

Dr. Goyal has built his practice with the help of happy patients recommending him to their friends and family.

Mitchell B. Stein, MD

His background in internal medicine allows him to approach eye problems from a more holistic perspective than most ophthalmologists.

During those visits, his eye team created sustainable eye care in the city of Cap Haitien by working with the Haitian ophthalmologists to improve their knowledge and skills.
